Terms of Service

Last updated: August 17, 2026

Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or otherwise using Cohort -- a social app built for college students to stay connected, meet new people, and find groups on their campus -- you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Eligibility

You must be at least 17 years old to use Cohort. By creating an account, you confirm that the date of birth you provided is accurate and that you meet this requirement.

Your Account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that happens under your account. Let us know right away at support@cohortapp.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

Content You Post

You keep ownership of the posts, photos, messages, and group content you create. By posting content on Cohort, you grant us a license to store, display, and distribute that content within the app as needed to provide the service (for example, showing your post to your group or your followers). You agree not to post content that: • Is illegal, or promotes illegal activity • Is hateful, threatening, or harassing toward others • Violates someone else's privacy or impersonates another person • Infringes someone else's intellectual property rights • Is spam or intentionally misleading

Groups & Merging

Groups you create or join are visible to their members, and group admins/creators may have additional controls over group content and membership. Proposing or accepting a merge request shares your group's name, members, and content with the other group involved -- only propose or accept a merge you're comfortable with.

Events & Businesses

Event and business listings shown in Cohort are provided for informational and organizational purposes. We don't guarantee the accuracy of an event's details or a business's information, and attending any event you find or create through Cohort is at your own discretion and risk.

Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to: • Use Cohort for any unlawful purpose • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or another user's account • Scrape or collect other users' data without consent • Use bots or other automated tools to access the app • Interfere with the normal operation of the app for other users

Account Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You can delete your own account at any time from Settings, which permanently removes your profile, posts, and messages from our systems.

Disclaimers

Cohort is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the app will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cohort and its creators aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including anything that happens at an event or gathering you organized or found through Cohort.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continuing to use Cohort after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
